Towards a sustainability assessment of Positive Energy Districts

Title: Towards a sustainability assessment of Positive Energy Districts: methodologies, case studies and applications

Overview

An overview of relevant PEDs real cases will be provided, showing 3 different aspects with regards to environmental challenges for energy cities, and the way to combine these aspects in order to allow users to take a decision depending on the specific case. This works also includes an extensive review of relevant documentation which is divided is 4 cases. A real case study of one city in Barcelona (Spain) is also shown, including a conventional building, a national library and other edifications and areas, revealing PEDs effectiveness in a real case.

The most relevant points will lie in both ensuring the participation of different types of stakeholders and also in analysing the way of reaching all sort of population. At the moment, there is part of consolidated technology in this field, another part is still being tested and other there are other technologies which in spite of being under development at the moment, some promoters are interested in including them in the urban planning. New channels of communication, such as SSPCR2022, will be necessary to connect all the stakeholder, policy making and researchers, on order to improve the deals to growing up this PEDs and PED labs.

On the other hand a theoretical case study with respect to PEDs has been also developed, by using 3different types of simulation programs: “modelica” which is focused on the system design; another one for the design drawing based on “python language”; and finally, one case study, which starts with a simulation to be applied in a real case, “Porta Romana” (Italy, Milan), which includes a green area inside a big city, where a solar PV plant provide us with the results of the energy demand and consumption. A discussion about the cost of this installation is also included, pointing the special bonus of the Italian Government.
