The FLEdge project includes several case studies designed to pilot and validate its innovative hierarchical energy management ecosystem. These case studies focus on demonstrating the scalability, integration, and effectiveness of the Edge-Energy Management (EEM) devices and Energy Management Nodes (EMaNs) at different levels—building, neighbourhood, district, and city.
Residential houses in Thessaloniki provide a practical testbed for the deployment and validation of hierarchical energy management systems. Key Objectives:
o Improve the energy performance of residential houses through advanced load forecasting and energy disaggregation.
o Implement demand-response mechanisms to balance energy supply and demand in real time.
o Maintain occupant comfort through smart building management features, such as pre-heating, pre-cooling, and automated lighting controls.
o Promote energy efficiency without compromising indoor living conditions.
