  The project consists the establishment of an energy community with the participation of the Municipality and citizens. The community will not be in a geographical limited area (within the boundaries of the Municipality). Each member of the community (owners of houses/apartments etc, around the city) will benefit from the energy produced from a pv system via virtual net metering (the initial pv system will be installed on the terrace of a municipal owned building). Energy production could be increased with future RES instalments. Initial PV plant will generate (approximately) 150000kwh/year

  Buildings in Kifissia are one of the two most energy demanding and CO2 emitting areas (the other is mobility). Most of the building stock is private owned and constructed before the energy efficiency regulations in Greece (2010), using oil or gas to cover their thermal needs. In addition, installing solar panels in each house/ building apartment could be challenging because inclined roof with tiles is mandatory in houses by local architectural regulations. Using the terrace of a municipal building to install the pv system provides a solution as to the area needed (and technical issues, inclination for maximize solar exposure etc) for the members of the energy community.
